Hello & Welcome

'Tres a l'aise' as a French man once said when entering the apartment. And yes, it's a true home away from home! Bored with staying in sterile environments, Tim looked into the possibility of providing overnight accommodation that felt like being at home. A private entrance for the apartment will give guests entry to their personal retreat, together with the warmth and hospitality of the hostess. The Swan is on the ground floor of a renovated townhouse. Its distinct interior is created to comfortably accommodate two or three guests.

Breakfast is self-catered. Very close to The Swan you will find a supermarket. It sells tasty breakfast food. All within walking distance you will find a wide-ranging variety of restaurants, cozy pubs, theatres, museums, cinemas, exhibitions, antique shops, exclusive fashion shops, auctions and the most remarkable nightlife. Our map of the city will guide you past the architectural wonders of the city's heart.

The apartment

Blue! You will find a lot of it in the bedroom for the real sleeping kings and queens. After a very romantic pillow talk, you can finally open your eyes and peek through the curtains. The bamboo in the small city garden will greet you. Conveniently close to the bedroom, you will not get lost on a midnight trip to the toilet, we promise. A revitalizing shower is what you need when you get back home, so everything is there for you. Singing talent not included. Nobody can cook your omelet exactly the way you want it, so we will not even try.

The small but practical kitchen contains all you need to prepare your favorite meal. Close to The Swan (75 meters) you will find a supermarket. In the summer you can breakfast leisurely or simply daydream in the city garden. We filled the library with a substantial amount of books and magazines to leaf through. The television will inform you about the latest news report. Tune the radio to whatever station you want to listen to, play a video or read your messages from home by using our WIFI.

Antwerpen

Antwerp is a delightful city with a historical character and an international outlook. Many monuments have survived remarkably intact in spite of the wars and the disasters that have affected the city in the past. Antwerp also has that past to thank for a rich heritage of art treasures. The city is a wonderful place for shopping and window shopping as well, from the designer shops in the shopping streets to the smallest second-hand and curiosity shops in Antwerpen-Zuid.

There is no city that spoils gastronomes and pleasure-lovers as Antwerp does: in addition to 600 restaurants and 1800 cafés, Antwerp harbours 25 theatres, 3 large cinema complexes, 6 concert halls and 35 museums.

If you are looking for green spaces in the city, you have the choice between 25 parks, 6 arboreta and 12 recreation areas and nature reservations. Antwerp consists of several cities all at the same time: there is Antwerp as the seaport, the economical artery not only for Greater Antwerp, but also for a hinterland that stretches out deep into Flanders. There is Antwerp as the city of culture, past and present. For others Antwerp is the world’s principal diamond city: for years now an international trade has flourished here, making a considerable contribution to the Belgian Gross National Product.

In addition, Antwerp has become a city of fashion since the emergence of ‘the Antwerp Six’ group of designers. In 1988, these 6 graduated from the City Fashion Academy: Dirk Bikkembergs, An Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene and Marina Yee.

Attractions

Antwerp is art and culture. Antwerp means leisure time for
young and old. Antwerp is the synonym for cosiness. Antwerp
is a party and you are the guest of honour! The possibilities are infinite: movie theatres, performing theatres,
puppet theatres, live music, concert venues, museums, a zoo,
river and harbour, fine dining, many historical interests, numerous shops,…

Antwerp is a wonderful place for antique connoisseurs. In the
Kloosterstraat you will find one shop after the other to browse in.
Enthusiasts can spend days here and still not see everything. Antwerp, with its international character, is pre-eminently the place
for ethnic art and items. Whatever you are looking for, a Japanese
rice mat, an African fetish, a Mexican amulet or a Moroccan carpet,
you will find it in our multicultural city.

On ‘Het Eilandje’, you have the opportunity to enjoy a tinge of culture,
to admire the architecture of the warehouses, to take a relaxing walk in
the docks or to inhale the salty smell of the Schelde water. Quite a few
restaurants and pubs are stationed here too, and at night you can celebrate
your stay here in one of the trendy dancings. Every year, a week before or after Easter, the tourist season officially
opens in Antwerp with a wealth of events.

In a nutshell, Antwerp is full of beautiful things to see, but above all it is a
living city. After visiting the outstanding museums and the historical
core or after having fulfilled your shopping dreams, you can enjoy t
he dazzling nightlife. Antwerp never sleeps!
